REEF ANCHOR 8MM 4 PRONG
Description
Reef anchors, also known as ‘Rock’ or ‘Grapnel’ anchors are a type of anchor designed for use in rocky or reefy seabed conditions.
Design: Reef anchors typically feature multiple arms or flukes, resembling a grappling hook or rake. This design allows them to catch onto rocks or crevices in the seabed. (Supplied with prongs straight for freight purposes)
Mostly suited to temporary reef anchoring. Vessels secured with a reef anchor should not be left unattended.
Material: Made from steel, with a heavy duty hot dipped galvanised finish.
Versatility: Reef anchors are specifically designed for use in areas with rocky or reefy bottoms. They excel in situations where other types of anchors may struggle to provide secure hold. When properly set, reef anchors can offer strong holding power in rocky or uneven seabeds. If snagged in reef conditions, prongs will straighten under retrieval load.
When using reef anchors, it is important to be mindful of the sensitive marine environments you are anchoring in, such as coral reefs. Anchoring with care can help protect these ecosystems.
Maintenance: Regular inspection and maintenance of reef anchors are essential to ensure they remain in good working order and to prevent corrosion.
Remember that the choice of anchor depends on various factors including the size, weight & type of your boat, the seabed conditions you encounter and your boating preferences. It is essential to select the right anchor type and size for your specific needs to ensure safe and secure anchoring.
If in doubt: Get in touch and our expert team will assist you in selecting the correct anchor for your needs.
